Boxwood WMA: 2 mi. S. of Steinauer, 320 acres of wooded areas, croplands, grasslands, two small ponds.
Iron Horse Trail WMA: 1 mi. E, .25 mi. N of DuBois, 210 acres former railroad right-of-way.
Prairie Knoll WMA: 2 mi. N, 1 mi. W of DuBois, 120 acres includes a small reservoir, woodlands, croplands and grassland.
Pawnee Prairie WMA: 8 mi. S, 1 mi. E of Burchard, 1,012 acres mostly of native prairie.
Table Rock WMA: 1 mi. E, .25 mi. N of Table Rock, 400 acres mainly bottomland along the Nemaha River, plus grassland and cropland.
Mayberry WMA: 7 mi. N, .5 mi. E of Burchas, 195 acres grasslands, trees and a small reservoir.

Otoe County

Prairie Owl Recreation Area: 2.5 mi. S, 1 mi. W of Dunbar, 39 acres with lake, fishing, restrooms, picnic tables.

Richardson County

Kinter’s Ford WMA: 1 mi. N, 3 mi. E of DuBois, 200 acres, includes an oxbow lake.

 

 
 

Fishing

Alexandria

Alexandria State Recreation Area: Fishing year-round. The 1,212-acre area is shaded by mature trees and offers hiking, wiildlife viewing, picnic shelters and camping. State park permit required. 402-729-5777.

Bellevue

Haworth Park: Overlooks the Missouri River and offers camping, fishing, boat ramps, picnic areas and riverfront hiking trails. 402-293-3098.

Louisville

Louisville Lakes State Recreation Area: Sandpit lake area with five lakes offters fishing, non-motorized boating, swimming, picnicking and camping with Platte River access. State park permit required. 402-234-6855.

Ohiowa

Lone Star Recreation Area: 160-acre area four miles east of town and .5 mile south as a 75-acre spring-fed lake. Boating, fishing, swimming, camping and hiking area available. 402-364-2145.

Odell

Big Indian NRD Recreation Area: Six miles east of town, has 250 acres for boating, fishing, camping, picknicking and swimming. An archery range, shelter and playground equipment are on site. 402-228-3402.

Nebraska City

Riverview Marina State Recreation Area: Missouri River dock access, fishing, boating and camping available. State park permit required. 402-873-7222.

Peru

Peru Bottoms Wildllife Management Area: 2,000 restored wildlife area. Offers boat ramp and public access to the Missouri River. Located two miles north of the Peru boat ramp.

Verdon

Verdon Lake State Recreation Area: One-half mile west of town along Hwy. 73. Fishing, boating and primitive camping is available at the 45-acre lake with 30 acres adjacent land.

Parks

Brock

Coryell Park: Built by the Coryell family and donated to Nemaha County is located one mile east and three miles south of Brock. Contains a small limestone wedding chapel, a doll museum and a sunny pavilion, with a playground along a bubbling stream.

Falls City

Stanton Lake: A serene park with a lake, in a beautiful setting that offers fishing, picnic areas, sandlot volleyball courts, playgrounds, trailer hookups, showers and dumping station. For information or reservations, call 402-245-2851.

Humboldt

Kirkman's Cove Recreational Area: 500-acre complex that features a nine-hold public golf course, a simming beach, hiking trails and RV and tent camping. Open year-round. Entry permit required. Located 4.5 miles west of town on Hwy. 4, then .5 miles north. 402-335-3325.

Nebraska City

Arbor Lodge State Historical Park: The home of Arbor Day, this park features 72 wooded acres, over 200 varieties of lilacs, an apple orchard, an original settler's cabin, a 52-room neo-classical mansion that is open for tours, children's playground equipment and picnic shelter.

Peru

Neal Park: Just south of the Peru State College campus, offers a pavilion, picnic area, hiking and birding opportunities as well as local flora and fauna.

Syracuse

Williams Park: Located in the middle of town and features a mile-long lighted bike/walk path, playground equipment, sheltered picnic areas and restroom, along with a newly established fishing pond.
